There's more to Hot Yoga than just 26 poses! We incorporate some Hot Vinyasa and Hot Yoga Advanced practices. So don't be surprised to discover that within Hot Yoga there are: sun-salutations, arm balances, lotus series, hip-openers, deep twists, inversions, bandhas, and more!

 

 

Our Hot Yoga Advanced Class

This class is similar to the Bikram Advanced, Barkan Method Hot Yoga Level II/III, Classic 84 Asanas, Tony Sanchez Yoga Challenge III. The Advanced Class can be practiced in a 90- and 120-minute format.

The sequence includes

Advanced Pranayama, Hot Vinyasa warm up, and some signature Hot Yoga standing postures. Then, a whole range of classic Hatha-asana sequences, such as

• arm balances (e.g. finger-stand, crow series, crane, peacock series, flying pigeon, and more)
• the meditation series
• lotus series (padmasana sequence)
• leg-stretching series
• "full" series (full cobra, full bow, full camel)
• inversions (headstand, tiger, handstand)
• and more

 

 

 

Corrections

 

CorrectionsIn the Hot Yoga Evolution, we are "sweet and gentle" with the Beginner-students. The Intermediate-students, however, are guided more firmly. Custom-tailored adjustments, corrections and an extra push are given, when necessary.

We invite you to explore what is available to you, we throw away what is not working, and keep what's useful.

The most attention is given to mastering alignment, awareness and sensitivity. Quiet sitting/meditation are encouraged. The qualities to work on are sensitivity, awareness, and self-trust.

How is the Hot Yoga Evolution different from Bikram Yoga
or other forms of Hot Yoga?

 

Hot Yoga Evolution features the Barkan Method, which is built on many of the exercises and concepts from Bikram Choudhury and Bishnu Ghosh, but integrates postures from other styles of Yoga, as well. Jimmy Barkan, the founder of Barkan Method style of Hot Yoga, explains that even though consistency is important to measure results, daily variations are necessary to challenge, excite, and help Students become unlimited in their practice.

Tomasz is working on developing those ideas further and calls his style the "Hot Yoga Evolution". This style of Hot Yoga favors a supportive teaching style, light-hearted and friendly approach that is easily accessible to "normal people" who might be unsure about doing Yoga or intimidated by it.

Consciousness can only evolve 'consciously'. As we like to say: there is no advanced asana practice, only an advanced way of paying attention. Through the challenges and demands of the Hot Yoga physical practice, we are able to quiet our mind, heal the heart and nourish the spirit. This process leads to a deeper level of self-awareness, self-understanding, as well as understanding of others. Ultimately, a better understanding of our true purpose in life is available, and that's the essence of the Hot Yoga Evolution.

Hot Yoga EvolutionPhysically, the yoga asanas are designed to work internally and externally. Internally: improvements to the internal organs and body systems are realized through consistent practice. An exegetic balance is created. Externally: the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments are all made stronger. A better-looking physique, big smile and healthy "glow" are just some of the benefits here.

Mentally, as in all forms of Yoga, the mind is strengthened through the discipline and concentration. This helps eliminate stress, depression, anxiety, and other dysfunctional mental disorders. To better understand the idea of evolution, let’s look at other kingdoms first:


In the mineral world, rock changes its structure to evolve into crystal. Some carbons, under heat and pressure, evolve into diamonds.
In the plant kingdom, observe the evolution of a seed into flower...
In the animal kingdom, reptiles over time grow wings and turn into birds – defying the force of gravity.

The purpose of the Hot Yoga Evolution is your own Personal Transformation. Hot Yoga is the tool. As we dedicate ourselves to a consistent practice, good changes begin to happen: you become stronger: carry your own weight (and the weight of the world) easier. You become lighter – your energy levels increase and you’re no longer tired half way through the day.

You become more at peace with yourself and others around you – love more, sleep better, wake up easier, enjoy the equanimity, even in difficult times.
